hi sir
ReplyDeletei try your way to upgrade my phone is working 100%
but when i need to root by update file its given me installation aborted
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteCould it still be possible to receive Samsung's official 2.3.3 update through KIES _after_ upgrading using the unofficial method?
I'm really tempted to try upgrading using ODIN.
Oh, and one more thing. How would I be able to downgrade back to 2.2.1 IF something went wrong with the 2.3.3 upgrade?
@ Mika you can downgrade using ODIN, but i dont have any idea to updating via KIES after ODIN, it gives this message(THIS VERSION OF DEVICE CANNOT BE UPDATED, but i may be update in recovery mode.
ReplyDelete@ SAM
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think I'll just wait for the official 2.3.3 update through KIES. But if it takes too long to become available then I'll just upgrade using ODIN. :)
@PER Your phone is not bricked, A bricked phone will not boot up nor power on it.. Your device firmware is jammed or corrupted. I think you need to restore back to froyo.. Firmwares has bugs even officially release or not.. Some Bugs are already posted above from those who already tried it but after flashing and it goes a weird black screen or blinking I think you messed up something...
ReplyDeletenever happens to our Samsung Galaxy Gio after flashing 2.3.3 firmware above...
Do wipe a factory reset.... Then install a froyo firmware... If you still a black screen problem after successfully flash other firmware version.. then your device have a hardware problem issue.
Thanks for you reply. I think I might have been unclear in my explanation regarding what happens when I try to download. It reads "downloading" but thats it - nothing happens on the screen. Then it goes black and starts "blinking" with the background light.
ReplyDeleteI can also get the Emergency download mode (ARM9 mode) up and running, but that takes special software from what I have understood - and thus is pretty useless to me.
I can in no other way make the phone react. I've tried to get access to the hard reset, but no luck as the only result is the blinking logo appearing.
Ideas?
It constantly force closes software update, when I log in at: about the phone -> sofwareupdate it stops doing it.
ReplyDeleteBut when I click on softwareupdate nothing happens..
Is this a problem or just a little bug or something?
Per, how is your phone? An aspirin might help. I had a similar things happened today, as I tried to update thru kies & NPC studio which didn't work, I then just try the push button method (dwnload) but then after it's off by itself, when I try to on it again only the logo appears on/off looping. A cold sweat, then I just redo the download mode with usb attached and kies running, downloading.....then I just press the off button ( a few minute to affect-off), when it off I detached and on it again, fuhh all back to normal, but I still in froyo.:-(~
ReplyDeletei'm trying to install the S5660XXKPE firmware.
ReplyDeletehow long does it take to upload the firmware?
mine has been sitting on <1> setup connection...
for 45 mins and still nothing.
It takes only around 5 min. Try to wipe data reset first then repeat the process.
ReplyDelete"I can also get the Emergency download mode (ARM9 mode) up and running, but that takes special software from what I have understood - and thus is pretty useless to me.

I have simular problem and resolve it by complete exit KIES. When i say exit i mean that even in task manager you must end KIES procesess.
when you kill all KIES processes you will not see ARM9 mode sign but Downloading
Good Luck
what do you mean by wipe data reset?
ReplyDeleteI did a factory reset from Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset...
ReplyDeletestill no play.
Another unique problem to me. After all the steps my phone just open up with a colorful snowy screen. Nothing is visible. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteCan you pls. tell me how to backup the froyo files so that if anything goes wrong i can downgrade back.
ReplyDeleteThanks
i have a windows xp sp3, it is a problem??
ReplyDeletemine has been sitting on <1> setup connection...
ReplyDeletefor 10 mins and still nothing....
what should i do?
@luis Moriera - install drivers, KIES, use another USB port and or computer, that's how to troubleshoot set connection error.

ReplyDeleteYou need to put the phone in Download mode!
Press Volume Down (not Up or both) + OK + Power.
You should see the screen display Downloading in Yellow.
Phone rebooting a couple of times, but wait till the blue PASS box is displayed before disconnecting your phone.
After having installed Gingerbread successfully, I later went into recovery mode to run update.zip, but got an error message: Applying Multi-CSC - can't access to "/system/CSC/SER?system". The only option given was to reboot the phone.
ReplyDeleteAny ideas anyone?
