How to Flash Samsung Galaxy TAB P1010 WIFI Firmware using ODIN

Here's a step by step procedure on how to flash the Samsung Galaxy TAB P1010 WIFI device.

Warning: This is not advisable to beginners who doesn't have any knowledge about firmware version. TABS firmware comes from different versions according to Country, Region and Carrier providers.  You will messed up your phone if you will flash it with a wrong firmware which is not comes or match to your device.
You are warned, proceed at your own risk! this is for advance users only. We are not liable any problems happens to your device.

Before you proceed prepare the necessary things to do as follows:
- Create a sync to backup all your personal data, like: Contacts, Messages, Applications, Pictures and Videos, because you will lose after the update.
- Make sure that the battery as its peak level to ensure stability and avoid failure issues.
-Close all softwares, such as KIES suite, Antivirus, firewalls, to prevent the possible conflicts;

-Prepare a personal computer or laptop with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, and of course you must to deactivate the antivirus from your computer and you must to have administrator access, to be able to download and install the drivers ;

Prepare the tools you need in this process.:

Samsung P1010 Galaxy Tab WIFI Original Firmwares
 Grab the latest firmware updates or stock ROMs

- Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi P1010 USB cable;

Flashing the Samsung Galaxy TAB P1010 Firmware Procedures:

1. Extract and Run the ODIN Downloader tool.

2. Check the AUTO REBOOT and RESET TIME checkbox.

3. Select the PIT/PDA/CSC files in Odin
Insert the desired files on each field.
  1. Click PIT button and select: p1wifi_20110128_r10_00.pit
  2. Click PDA button and select: P1010xxxxx-REV03-ALL-low-CL946441.tar.md5
  3. Click CSC button and select: GT-P1010-MULTI-CSC-Oxxxxx.tar.md5

4. Set the device into DOWNLOAD MODE
Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power at the same time.You will eventually see a picture like the one below with black Android robot digging within a  triangle.

5. Connect the Device to PC using the DATA cable
Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
Make sure the ID:COM box highlighted yellow to know that the handset is connected to the PC properly.
If you still do not get any results, try another USB port on your computer.

6. Enter the Device into Firmware Downloading process
 When the drivers are installed and all binary files needed is ready, Click Start Button. Finally you must to wait until the Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi P1010 update process is complete (you will receive after 3-5 minutes a green Pass box)..

The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up.Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!
But if you do not see a blue progress bar on your phone after 5 minute, take out your phones battery, unplug your phone and start from step 1 again.

7. Handset reboots when flash or download completes
Once you see the message "PASS", you have successfully flashed the phone.

To check if you have successfully update your device enter the following code: *#1234#.
Also, you may know that you can clear your cache, simply using the following full reset code: *2767*3855#.

  1. Thanks for the detailed guide, however I have just one final question before undertaking the upgrade task, does this procedures works for ANY GT-P1010, a by this I mean, would it work on my case, I have a GT-P1010 acquired in Colombia, so I guest is a Latinamerican version of it! ;)

  2. Well, I finally did upgrade mi Gtab P1010 to P1010XWKB6 but now the on screen keyboard is not working :( I guest I woud try another upgrade :/

  3. The most recent stock is P1010XWKC1 it is build 2011 March, All the firmware mentioned above where all European versions..

  4. Well ;) here again, and with my problem fixed, It seems that the P1010XWKB6 wasnt working so good for me, so I did tried the P1010XWKB8 and the on screen keyboard issue (null null null) has been fixed, thanks for that :D cheers!!

Yep, more stable indeed and right after the boot from flashing, the market found an update for gmaps, and fix in part the need for internet acces when you use the maps on the road, this is provided by a experimental dev that allows to store some map info in a pre-cache feature, limited to ten positions but, is something better than before. I going to use the KB8 for a while because I dont see the need to get KC1 at least for now! ;) cheers

Hola David, yo he ensayado la KB8 y me ha funcionado bien excepto que desde que actualice desde la KB4 no tengo conexión con Kies, eso no importaría mucho excepto en el caso en que esté disponible GB 2.3 a través de Kies y bueno, en ese momento veré que me toca hacer, de pronto volver a flashear con Odin, porque a pesar de todo lo que he intentado no me conecta con Kies, aunque si tengo acceso usb a la memoría del tab. Saludos ;)

La guía de ésta página funciona bien, la he probado ya dos veces, pasando de KB4 a KB6 y de ahi a KB8, sin problemas ni nada, de modo que la recomiendo, el error común y que pueden resultar fatal es fallar en escoger la correcta actualización para el modelo de tab que se tiene, ahi está el verdadero riesgo, para minimizar éste riesgo tiene que leer mucho y comprender los posibles daños que pueden surgir, nadie le puede garantizar que una guía o una actualización le van a funcionar sin problemas, a lo sumo la gente le dirá como le fué con tal o cual guía o update, pero eso es todo! Hola David, después del flash que describí antes, mi tab quedó en Froyo 2.2.1 y compilación FROYO.XWKB8 tiene kernel 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S608 #1, aun no he podido acceder a el desde Kies, a pesar de que he actualizado al Kies a la ver.152, es decir la última, pero igual GB no está aún disponible a través de Kies, de forma que toca esperar. Saludos

  14. Not yet, it is not available trought Kies and even worse, the tablet won´t connect to Kies at all, so at the moment GB would be reachable I´m going to have to wait until an Odin version comes up, what a bommer! :(

    yo estoy en Colombia y actualice mi GT-P1010 versión europea comprado aqui en Bogotá a GB 2.3.6 sin problemas, eso si ten mucho cuidado y lee todo muy bien antes de cada paso y recuerda que aunque a mi me fué bien, puede que enfrentes problemas de modo que toma mis sugerencias pero asume tu propio riesgo ;) jeje Saludos
